Well my house was clean and empty and the keys handed off when I left for work this morning. It's been a long process and not exactly a fun one but at least one more phase of this weird life change is finally over! I want everyone who has helped at all with the moving/cleaning/fixing of the house to know how much I appreciated your help over the last few weeks. With Dave leaving for his 3 week detail we had to change plans a little bit and I have definitely needed more help than I expected and I want to give some credit where it is due...
Dave's parents and brothers for helping us move our stuff into the house in Kanab, picking up a swamp cooler, fixing a fireplace, watching Logan, moving our stinky trash and much more!
My parents, Joe, Lisa and Alex for donating a Saturday to help me get the last of the big stuff to Kanab, watching Logan, burning trash, cleaning the house, letting me invade your house for a month and much more!
Sandy for bailing me out when I left the lights on in the truck and killed it deader than a doornail. I don't know what I would have done without you!
Ben & Jason for stealing my cases of water and taking credit for it. I owe you one, but since I can't move anything big for you guys I'll just start some reports for you before I leave!
Everyone else at work who has given me moral support and helped me get my schedule to be more manageable. I'll be better for it I promise!
Logan, for being so good and cooperative even though you didn't have a clue why I was slowly taking your stuff out of the house. This morning I snuck your air mattress out of your room and when you went back in your room later you stopped short and said, "Where'd bed go?" Poor guy. Then you wanted to watch cartoons only to find the TV gone, "Where'd TV go?" You are so sweet. Thanks for being such a good helper too, you love to help me sweep and vacuum!
Dave, for having a house in Kanab ready for us to move into before you left and working so hard every weekend before you left to get my "list" done. I know you wanted to spend more time with Logan than you got to and I appreciated your hard work. You did get out of helping me clean though... Just kidding. Thanks for all the moral support you gave me while you were in Mexico eating good food every night. We've missed you and can't wait to have you home!
I know there are tons of others that have helped in big ways and little ways. I don't know where I'd be without you!

22 Months - Nose a buggin?
22 months. Just typing that makes me tired. I swear it has been 6 months since I last wrote you a letter- was it really only a month ago? I don't know if you were lucky enough to not be sick the whole time your dad was home with you or if I just didn't notice it as much because it didn't affect (effect? I hate that.) me that much. Boy has it affected me in the last 4 weeks. I don't think I've been to a full week of work since your dad has started his job. Don't get me wrong I LOVE spending the extra time with you - especially since you like to cuddle when you are sick - but I think everyone at work thinks I am lying when I call in every Monday with a new illness. Poor baby. Just when you get feeling better from the last round here we go again. And to top it all off I think you are getting your two-year-old molars. I don't know for sure because you won't let me see. When I am lucky enough to get my finger in to feel for them you bite down as hard as you can and make me yell. I thought I saw one yesterday though and you woke up last night screaming without being able to tell me what hurt or what was wrong until you were finally able to yell "MOTRIN, MOTRIN!" Yeah, there was a reason I was born in the time I was, so that I could be a parent in the time of modern medicine, most specifically Motrin.
Your dad and I were looking forward to Easter this year. You didn't really "get" it last year - you just knew that everyone kept shoving candy in your face all day long and you weren't complaining. I knew this year you'd enjoy it a little more. Too bad you threw up about 3 minutes away from the spot where we hang out and then spent the next 20 minutes trying to hide from everyone who wanted to come say hi. You fell asleep so I took you to the truck while the hail started and you slept for about 25 minutes before you woke up and became the literal "party pooper." Yeah, you pooped all over both of us. You felt better after that but we left anyway and headed to Kanab. That was a smelly trip to Kanab but I felt worse for you than for me. You spent the rest of the day with it coming out both ends, one after the other. Poor kid. Stupid mom too. Silly of me to think that 2 shirts and 3 pairs of pants would last us 2 days. I think we ended up doing 3 loads of laundry. Luckily you were feeling a little better when we got to Grandma and Grandpa H's house on Sunday and you even got a little Easter egg hunt in. I promise next year will be better - it has to be!
One of the cutest things you've learned to say after all these colds and bugs you've had lately is "nose-a-buggin". I think it was your dad that initially asked you if your nose was bugging you after you had been rubbing it all afternoon and it just stuck. Now it's a common phrase around our house and you'll even ask me and your dad if our noses are a buggin. It's pretty dang cute. You've also gotten better at telling us when things are hurting which is seriously a blessing! I don't know what I am going to do when I go back to having a kid that can't tell me that his/her nose is bugging or his/her mouth/belly/finger/etc. hurts. Maybe you'll have some sort of ESP and be able to tell me what is bothering the new baby. Speaking of the new baby I finally got you to feel the new baby move and I don't think you fully understand of course, but it is so cute when you are cuddling with me at night when the baby is kicking and you say "Baby kicking you?" and then "Hi, baby". You really do have a way of melting me. Sometimes I can even get you to sing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star to the baby. Your version is remarkably close and I love to hear you sing...
Twinkle, twinkle star. What you are. World so high. Diamond sky.
SOO cute.
You are doing well adjusting to the move and all the changes in our lives. I have to keep telling myself that all of this change will help you become a well adjusted person who handles change well - I have to tell myself that because I know it is a lot for you to take. Luckily I think you are really resilient and handle things well. Whatever the case may be, we'll be a little more settled by the time I write your letter for month 24. As long as it took this last month to pass, I'm sure that you will be 2 before I know it so I'll try to relax, enjoy any sick/cuddle days I get with you, and enjoy your last few months in "only child" status.
Love you sicky,
Mom

Playing the "BCD" (a.k.a ABC) game on the computer. I never wanted you to be one of those kids addicted to the tv/computer but you really do like this one and it has helped you learn a few letters already!

Feeding Chatzy all by yourself. I worried but you both did good! No fingers were harmed!

Giving Chatzy a kiss. Aww...

And my favorite. I wish you could see better but your two top teeth are even sticking out over your bottom lip. This is the one I'm going to show your girlfriends...

Because I've always wanted to know...
what play-doh looks like when it melts.

Apparently we are not past the "must look in the oven before turing it on" stage.

Thanks buddy, for teaching me something new every day.
P.S. If you look past the melted blue play-doh to the gross-ness on the bottom of the oven and judge me, you missed the point of this post and I feel very, very sad for you.

It's April. That's why everything is all screwed up.
I rarely get to answer the phone anymore at work since I spend about half of my time at court and the other half, um, not answering the phone (we have other people to do that). Just 2 minutes ago I was busy reading posts on this website I found via Nemesis and enjoying reminiscing the days where I dealt more with customer service. Just then the phone rang and I realized there was only one girl up front at the moment and I should answer the phone and help out. Here's how my conversation went...
Me: Adult Probation and Parole this is Kim
Him: Um yeah, I made an appointment with **** and I lost my paper and I REALLY don't want to miss an appointment.
Me: Ok, so you've already been in this month to check in and make an appointment?
(The offenders have the first 5 working days to do this and since this is only day #2 I was somewhat surprised that a) he'd been in already and b) he'd lost his paper already).
Him: Yeah, yeah, I checked in and made an appointment and lost my paper.
Me: Ok, I'm pulling up ****'s calendar now, let me just get to the right month....
Him: Oh wait. It's April. That's why everything is all screwed up. I haven't been in to make an appointment yet. Nevermind. Bye.
I miss answering the phone sometimes.
