We have had this dump truck since Logan was your age, and I dug it out of the toy box and cleaned it up for Aunt Lisa's baby shower. Since then it has somehow managed to stay in the house and become your favorite thing to fill with toys and ram into the back of people with. Either that or you sit in it and beg someone to push you. Either way when you and this dump truck are together the rest of us try to hide!
Except apparently for Tessa. Man this girl loves you and loves to mother you too. I don't know how many times a day I have to remind her that I'm your mom and she doesn't need to be, but it's a lot. At least you guys get a long most of the time, which is especially good seeing as how I'm guessing you are going to catch up to her in size within a year.
We had her birthday party early before preschool got out so it would be easier for her to invite her school friends. I was so busy with the party that I didn't notice that you were sneaking cupcakes until I looked over and saw about 4 half-eaten ones on teh table in front of you. I honestly can't turn my back for a second.
And then you managed to find the only puddle on the ground and sat in it. Thanks bud! I didn't want to put a dry bum in the carseat anyway. Soggy ones are way better.
On the same trip as Aunt Lisa's baby shower we went over to her house to see her and Uncle Joe's baby bunnies. You even got to pet one of the older, but still tiny, babies. You loved it.
You've discovered what you call your "funny face" lately. It is pretty dang funny when you bust it out, and then you make everyone else do a funny face too. I think I've mentioned this before, but there's not ever a dull moment with you around.
Unless of course you're sleeping. I can't remember the specifics of this day. I do know that dad was either gone on a fire or working late and we'd had a long day and hadn't eaten dinner, so we decided to go to Wendy's. Unfortunately you fell asleep in the truck on the way there, and i had to pack all 30+ of you around in the restaurant and then hold you like this while trying to eat. By the time we were done my arm was dead!
And another day you zonked out on the couch next to me and I could almost, almost see a baby-ish look to your face as you were sleeping. I miss those baby sleeping faces.
And another day you fell asleep at the park and didn't bother to wake up once we got there. You stayed on my lap like this for a while before you woke up, rubbed your eyes, crawled down on teh grass on a blanket and told me you just "needed a little rest."
I was going through our baby stuff trying to find thing that Aunt Lisa could use when I dug out the good ol' pump. I had it stashed in a box in the corner by the door so I would remember to take it to Hurricane when we went next, but you managed to find it one day when grandma and grandpa Veater were here. I don't know if I've seen grandpa laugh so hard as when you started calling him on your "phone."
We were lucky to have both grandmas and grandpas come watch your brother and sister play ball this spring, and it was definitely a help to have them help watch you so I could watch the games from time to time. At the last game though you were seriously cranky, and it was all we could do to get you to look at grandpa Rob. I finally told you that you could play a game on my phone if you sat on grandpa's lap, and once you got there you forgot all about the game. It was pretty sweet.
As I was going through the pictures for your letter I found about 100 pictures of the carpet, the wall, the ceiling, your face, and your feet. I guess all that time I think you are playing educational games on my phone you are really just taking pictures!
We finally were able to take our first camping trip on Memorial Day weekend with grandma and grandpa and aunts and uncles on the Veater side. Dad was planning on going but ended up being called out on a fire, so grandma and grandpa came down a day early to pick up our trailer and take it out to camp for us. You were already mad at grandpa for "stealing" our fourwheeler one day when he took it up to Panguitch for us, and when they came down to get the trailer you were zonked out and didn't even know they'd been here. When you woke up I asked you where the trailer was and when you saw it was gone you KNEW it was grandpa who had stolen it. You called him up and cussed him out for stealing your trailer. It's a good thing he did though, because when we got to camp the next day it was snowing and COLD. Luckily it warmed up over the next few days while we were there, and we were able to enjoy the camping trip with lots of fourwheeler rides and S'mores. As a testament to the fact that I can't turn my back on you for a second, you somehow managed to put your camp chair on this log and climb up on it before anyone noticed - so it's not just my lack of watching you it's your speed at getting into mischief!
You had fun playing cornhole by yourself...
playing with grandma's John Deere radio...
When we got home on Monday I told you and the big kids it was time for baths and showers, to which you replied, "I not dirty mom!" I took a picture to show you that you really were, and you thought it was pretty funny.
That weekend was the official start to our summer with Logan being out of school as well, so of course we packed up or stuff and went to the pool for the first time the day after we got home from camping. I crack up every time you put on Logan's goggles
and ended up with a couple super cute pictures of you wearing them at the pool too.
One of my favorite things about the pool is the fact that everyone comes home and crashes on the couch. The first day we went though you didn't! Luckily it was a fluke and you've either crashed or gone to bed early every other day we've gone. I'm so glad we have such a fun pool so close. You told me the other day that you wanted to go to the pool so you could "go awound and awound and awound the wazy wiver." You are the cutest.
With summer comes snow cones, and this year you've made it clear that mom can't just order you a wedding cake one every time (because it's clear). You want banana or "green" or spiderman (which is actually superman).
And last weekend we went to the Relay for Life. We were signed up on Brandon and Shannon Allen's team and had a time slot to walk Friday evening while they had all the fun stuff set up. I set out walking with you in the stroller and Tess pushing only to have you insist on switching about halfway through one lap. It's a good thing they don't count laps for anything because we definitely weren't breaking any speed records this way.
You have still been cranky, but I cut you a little slack most days because I know that those stupid @#$^ molars STILL are working their way through. I can see the point of one, ONE of them now, but that's it. Even though you can be cranky though you are still such a fun kid that we all love to have around. You are talking SO well, and have started getting to the point where the things you say aren't always things you've heard other people saybut sentences that you have thought of on your own. Sometimes your words come out faster than you mean and you say things that aren't quite right, and you get so cute and embarrassed adn shake you head and say, "no, no" and sometimes hold your hand in front of your face. It's adorable.
We love you so much Ty!
