You had a pretty eventful month as far as staying somewhere without your parents present. I had a trip planned for your dad for his birthday where I had asked Grandma and Grandpa Hillier to watch you so in the interest of all that is fair and good I made sure your Grandma and Grandpa Veater had a chance to have you overnight last month too. Both trips went off without a hitch and you did fine - I knew you would - I never doubted you. Your dad and I on the other hand had a bit of a tougher time. Sure we enjoyed the time alone but we missed you and all the cute things you run around doing and saying. So while everything went fine I don't think we'll be planning many overnighters, particularly 2 in one month, any time soon.
You've continued your never ending learning and you don't stop talking. One of the cute things you've started doing is when you look for things you put your arms up and say "Where go?" Or when you don't want me to watch what you are doing (this happens a lot - you like to get into things you know I don't want you to be in to), you look at me and say "buh-bye" - because if you say buh bye I'm supposed to quit looking at you and let you do whatever you want. We bought you a little cardboard basketball hoop thing and a nerf ball and you walk around saying "baset-ball". You lost your basketball and now every time someone asks you about it you say, "Where go, baset-ball?" The advanced language skills are nice but they are also frustrating because you tell us one thing but don't mean it. Your dad had a tough day with you the other day. You were sick and you said "Juice" so your dad said, "Do you want juice?" to which you replied, "no." This routine went on alternating between milk and juice. It makes me laugh but when it is me it drives me crazy. I know you know what you want and how to ask for it but you still enjoy keeping us guessing.
This last weekend we were in Hurricane to have dinner with Grandma, Grandpa, Lisa and Joe for my birthday and Grandma gave you a small heart-shaped box with 3 chocolates in it during dinner. While we sat there eating you looked at it and said "Balentine?" I think everyone at the table about died. I know you repeat just about every new word you hear but I don't think anyone had said the word Valentine for at least a few minutes prior to you getting your candy. It was just about the cutest dang thing too. I'm going to have to get some audio or video of you talking because you have the sweetest voice - we can't even get that upset with you when you say no because you say it so cute!
This letter to you isn't cute, clever, funny, or sentimental but you gave me your cold and I must have left my cute/clever/funny/sentimental pants at home. I hope you enjoy the time you have left with your dad before you go back to daycare. I hope you know that you make him smile so big when you do something that is obviously something you learned from him. And thanks for such a fun day with your mom yesterday. You've been a little grumpy/ornery lately but yesterday we had a blast going to Donald's house and the Taco House and playing together - it was exactly what I needed.
And remember in about 14-15 years when you think you need to buy some little chica a Valentine that your first Balentine was to your mom - and she'll enjoy it way more than the little floozy you happen to have a crush on at the time (she's not good enough for you).
Love,
Your First Balentine
